Our client is seeking a highly-motivated individual focused on results to lead global product QA/QC, continuous product improvement, and cost improvement initiatives, working closely with the Design, Product Development, Merchandiser and suppliers in the U.S and China. This person will be involved in all stages of product development and production to assure products are developed, manufactured, and tested to comply with all applicable quality standards and regulations. This is a senior quality position, but this is a hands-on role, not an administrative role.

POSITION: Quality Manager – QA/QC
LOCATION: Shanghai
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
1. Primary role is to promote and drive implementation of Total Quality within the company, lead the quality team to the best business result for all products and manufacturing improvements
2. Serve as the customer quality advocate for the company
3. Emphasize quality planning in the early stages of product design and development to minimize the impact of unforeseen safety, quality and reliability issues
4. Participate in design reviews to provide quality input with particular focus on safety and consumer touch points
5. Participate in the development of new products to ensure that all applicable quality requirements (industry standards, safety, regulatory, reliability, and customer's performance requirements) for the program are defined and met
6. Provide input to China project team to plan and develop the manufacturing process to realize the design intent of the program
7. Ensure that critical product characteristics (form, fit, function, safety) are identified on specifications for design qualification and process control
8. Lead the development and execution of the design validation testing for qualification prior to product launch
9. Establish the quality requirements and protocols for existing and new products, as well as inspection standards/checklist for inspectors
10. Lead the quality audit in approving new factories
11. Participate in sample development and sample reviews to ensure objectives and success criteria are defined
12. Coordinate with Consumer Service and China Quality teams to collect, analyze, and summarize product quality concerns, issues and trends, and develop solutions to continuously improve product quality. Lead the identification and prioritization of existing product quality concerns and issues.
13. Lead problem solving efforts for current product, design, testing, and business issue resolution
14. Assist Sales in communications with customers to resolve issues
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
1. Minimum 4 years' university degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering/ Manufacturing/ Design.
2. Minimum 10 years' working experience in the field of hard goods. Experience on manager level is a must, experience in Sporting goods or Plant level supervision is a plus
3. Broad knowledge in Inspection, Testing and Audit (including social compliance) of US market is a must
4. Demonstrated skill in managing and implementing processes and system change, problem solving, total quality management, advance product quality planning, auditing systems and preparing and implementing quality procedures
5. Working knowledge of quality standards (e.g., CPSIA, the ASTM and EN71), and experience working with independent product testing laboratories is strongly desired
6. Self-motivated and must be able to work under pressure and tight schedules, with frequent traveling in China
7. Must be willing and able to travel
8. Have Passion and "Can-Do-Attitude" and high interests of hands-on to the products.
9. Fluent in English (written and oral) and Mandarin (written and oral)
